About six months ago I joined Hills Harmony Chorus, a local all-male acapella group. We have about 25 members and meet for about three hours each week to rehearse songs in four-part close harmony (barbershop style).Today we competed in the AAMBS* 2010 Eastern Region Chorus and Quartet Competition, performing two songs: You Don’t Know Me and After You’ve Gone.
There were seven quartets and four choruses in the competition. We won the small chorus award and were runners-up overall in the chorus section. It was my first public performance and I have to say it was a great feeling after all the rehearsals.
In the next month or so we will be running a raffle to raise funds for our chorus. As part of that we will be performing in malls around the Hills area to promote the raffle. Should be great fun!
